Bad breath is usually caused by three main groups of causes. The first factor is from the mouth such as cavities, plaque or tartar and tooth decay / rot. The second factor from the outside of the mouth such as respiratory and digestive tract. The third factor is the food and drinks that can leave the smell.
First, factor in your own mouth where there are cavities, many of plaque or tartar, tooth decay or even worse left untreated tooth decay. Such teeth will become a nest of germs and place food scraps that can not be cleaned completely and eventually rot. Consequently spread odor.
Second, factors from the outside mouth but still from the respiratory tract or gastrointestinal or general illness. Inflammation or disease in these parts causes the same thing as the first factor. For example, tuberculosis (pulmonary tuberculosis) causes bad breath a bit fishy, diabetes cause bad breath such as aceton (liquid nail polish remover).
Third, food or beverage can leave the bad breath until several hours afterward. For example, banana, coffee, liquor, etc..
